Equipment Purpose:

Degassing and Dross Removal.
Scope of Application: This equipment is suitable for hydrogen removal, dross removal, refining, purification, and melt cleaning of aluminum held in crucible melting furnaces, holding furnaces, reverberatory furnaces, bath-type melting furnaces, ladles, and static boxes.

Analysis:

During the melting process, aluminum alloys react with moisture, producing aluminum oxide, hydrogen, and a large amount of dross. The dross rises to the surface of the melt and can be skimmed off directly. Hydrogen is a harmful gas in molten aluminum. If the hydrogen content is too high, gas porosity (pinholes) is likely to form in aluminum castings, which reduces the mechanical properties of the finished parts. In severe cases, it can even lead to the casting being scrapped.

Therefore, furnace-side testing of hydrogen content in molten aluminum is a crucial process for controlling casting quality. This is especially true when using large-capacity melting furnaces for high-volume production—refining, degassing, and dross removal become extremely important. Precision casting manufacturers have very high requirements for the purity of molten aluminum. Working Principle:

During operation, the rotating rotor breaks the inert gas (argon or nitrogen) injected into the molten aluminum into a large number of fine, dispersed bubbles and distributes them throughout the melt. Due to partial pressure differences and adsorption principles, these bubbles absorb hydrogen and entrapped inclusions in the melt. As the bubbles rise to the surface, they carry the hydrogen and impurities out of the molten aluminum, thereby purifying it and significantly improving melt quality. The purity of the inert gas must be above 99.9996%.

Industries that primarily use this equipment include: aluminum melting and casting, aluminum foundries, and recycled aluminum production.

Equipment Features

  • This equipment can more effectively remove gases (mainly hydrogen) and oxides from molten aluminum. It combines the advantages of both gas refining and flux refining. After undergoing rotary powder-injection refining, the hydrogen content of aluminum alloy melt can be reduced to below 0.1 ml/100 g, achieving Level 1 pinhole rating with stable performance.
  • Low metal loss: With proper flux refining, the amount of dross floating on the melt surface is small and easy to separate. Incidents of metal entrapment are rare, and the amount of metal removed during skimming is minimal.
  • Low flux consumption with accurate dosing.
  • Capable of completing multiple process operations: When used with various functional fluxes, the equipment can accomplish degassing, dross removal, and other refining functions.
  • The rotor shaft bearings are designed for high temperatures and do not require air cooling. The main shaft can operate continuously at temperatures up to 200°C.
  • Fully automated operation significantly improves on-site working conditions.
